Privacy Policy for NoteSystem

NoteSystem (“the App”) is a handwriting and sketching app for iPad and Apple Pencil that lets you write, draw, and organize notes into books on shelves. We respect your privacy: we do not run our own servers, we do not track you, and we do not sell or rent your information. This policy explains how your data is handled.
1. Information We Collect
We do not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, location, or any personal information on servers of our own. The App has no developer-operated backend that receives your data.
2. Where Your Data Is Stored
- Your books, pages, and drawings are stored on your device.
- If you are signed in to iCloud, your content is also synced through Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) to your own private iCloud account, so it stays up to date across your devices. This data lives in your private iCloud storage — we (the developer) cannot see or access it.
- Some preferences — such as your colour palettes, shelf order, and custom page-background presets — are also synced through iCloud so they match across your devices.
- You can turn iCloud off for the App in the iOS Settings; your content then stays on-device only. Turning iCloud off never deletes the notes already on your device.
3. How Information Is Used
- Core functionality: Your books and drawings are saved so you can view, edit, organize, and (with iCloud) sync them across your devices.
- Exports: You can export pages or books as PNG/PDF files. Exported files stay on your device unless you choose to share them via the iOS share sheet.
4. Sharing & Collaboration
- You can choose to share a book with other people. When you do, that book is shared through Apple’s iCloud sharing (CloudKit): the people you invite can open, view, and edit that shared book, and it syncs between you and them through iCloud.
- While collaborating on a shared book, the App may show which participant is currently viewing a page (“presence”), so collaborators can see each other’s activity. This is visible only to the people a book is shared with.
- Sharing only happens for books you explicitly choose to share, with the people you explicitly invite. As the owner you can stop sharing at any time; as a participant you can leave a shared book at any time.
- Apart from iCloud sharing that you initiate, we do not share your data with anyone. Any other sharing occurs only when you actively use your device’s share options.
5. Third-Party Services
The App uses Apple iCloud / CloudKit for storage, syncing, and the sharing features described above. Your use of iCloud is subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy. The App does not use any other third-party services, analytics, or advertising SDKs.
6. Children’s Privacy
The App is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect or store any personal data from children.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
- Your books and drawings remain until you delete them.
- Uninstalling the App removes the data it stored on your device. Content synced to iCloud remains in your iCloud account; you can remove it from iCloud in the iOS Settings (Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Storage).
8. Security
On-device data relies on iOS’s built-in storage and security protections. Data synced or shared through iCloud is handled by Apple’s CloudKit, which encrypts data in transit and at rest. Your content is never sent to servers we control.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected on this page and, where appropriate, in the App Store listing.
